WASHINGTON – The final two days of National Farmers Union’s (NFU) 119th Anniversary Convention will bring together members, industry professionals, policymakers, and reporters for remarks from Congressional leadership and administration officials, award presentations, and the organization’s signature grassroots policy adoption process.

Held on Monday, March 1st and Tuesday, March 2nd, the concluding session wraps up a month-long virtual event – NFU’s first convention to be held fully online. The more than 500 family farmers and ranchers who have registered have had the opportunity to attend their choice of ten educational sessions on the issues that matter most to them, including climate change, mental health, corporate consolidation in the agricultural industry, cooperative development, and racial equity. Recordings of previous sessions can be viewed on NFU’s YouTube channel.

On March 1st, attendees will hear from Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack on the new administration’s agriculture- and rural-related efforts so far and expectations for the next four years. The session will also feature remarks from a number of legislators with key roles in policymaking, including Senator Debbie Stabenow, Chairwoman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry; Senator John Boozman, Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry; Representative David Scott, Chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture; and Representative Glenn Thompson, Ranking Member of the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture. Finally, NFU President Rob Larew will present his State of the Farmers Union address.

Then, on March 2nd, more than 200 delegates representing each of National Farmers Union’s 24 state and regional divisions will review, debate, and affirm the organization’s policy positions and priorities for the coming year.
